Vision and Mission of the Library Media Program

Our vision is to be a welcoming, dynamic center of 21st century learning that provides access to diverse and quality forms of resources for staff, students, and community members, while fostering a love of literacy. Our library also encourages creativity, critical thinking, discovery, and collaboration, while developing responsible and productive members of society.

Our mission is to improve student learning and achievement by supporting the educational program, while assisting both students and staff to become effective users of ideas and information.

Library Information and Circulation Guidelines

The DCHS Library Media Center is open from 7:50 a.m.-2:55 p.m., Monday through Friday. It is a safe place for study, group activities, classes, presentations, recreation, and reading. The loan period in which books can be checked out is two weeks. There is a limit of two books for
each loan period. Books can also be renewed for an additional two weeks.

If a borrower has an overdue book, he/she will not be able to check out another book until his/her account is clear. If a book is lost or damaged, the borrower is responsible for paying for that book. Notify the library media specialist, if a book is lost or damaged. The collection contains fiction and nonfiction books. There are also physical books, audiobooks, and e-books. All of the books are categorized according to genres, e.g. teen drama, fantasy, historical fiction, and reference.
